I wanted my kids to know the American story. Not the boring textbook version — the real one. The messy, incredible, complicated story of how we got here.
I couldn't find a book that did it right. Everything was either too dry, too political, or too flimsy. So we made one. We hired artists to paint every page in watercolor. We worked with historians to get every fact right. We built in puzzles and quizzes so kids would actually want to pick it up.
